We provide a nurturing therapeutic environment where young people can meet their educational and social needs.  We offer an individualised educational programme of formal academic and vocational subjects, informed by EHCP’s and Educational Psychology.

The school approach is rooted in psychodynamic and trauma informed practice.  Our staff are trained to work with young people who present a range of social and emotional challenges, including autistic spectrum disorder, ADHD and challenging behaviours.

Glebe House School Vision Statement - November 2021

  • Education is integrated with therapy and care in our Therapeutic Community where learning takes place in a braided and respectful environment

  • The well-led teaching team set a context of high expectations of behaviour and progress for the students to achieve their potential

  • The learners are encouraged to approach learning with curiosity, with the desire to gain the skills, awards and self-confidence for their lives as adults

Many of our learners will have faced disruption within their educational history and have met significant barriers to learning due to a diagnosed condition, specific learning difficulty or their environment - all of which can impact on a learner's progress, level of attainment and self-esteem. We strive to re-engage and stimulate young people’s interest in learning, and our approach to the curriculum is creative and flexible.

Glebe House School is ambitious for its learners to gain qualifications but also provides opportunities for gaining ‘cultural capital’; to develop socially, morally, culturally and emotionally. Career direction and transitional progression are all considered within the curriculum, which is delivered in small group or one-to-one settings. All staff are experienced practitioners and our provision is regularly reviewed in order to ensure that it continues to meet the needs of our learners.
